The Death Of Independence Day

By: Erik Henyon

As Americans get ready to celebrate the Fourth of July . . . the day the 13 colonies declared our “independence” from the empire of Great Britain we have daunting statistics of our current status and how we have now become “dependent”.

It is frustrating to see this once great independent nation that was once built on a strong independent rock solid work ethic become so dependent.

In the most recent times, under the Obama Administration specifically, we have somehow evolved into one of the worst states possible, dependency. As of July 1, 2014 a massive 55% of all Americans rely on the government for a handout. Over 46 million Americans receive food stamps. An increase of over 14 million since Obama took office. 9 million workers are on disability up 20% under Obama. And what takes the cake is nearly half of all Americans 43% pay no federal income tax at all.

Current gas prices are up over 100% since Obama took office. Food prices are at an all-time high while the government tells us that inflation is stable . . . I strongly disagree. Not only do I disagree and not only does the evidence support my disagreement but I will call the administration flat out liars. All of this while American household income has plummeted.

As many people may not recall January 20, 2009 and 2013 was the day that Obama was sworn into office. It seems only fitting that on this Independence Day that we name January 20th as “Dependents Day”. May I suggest that people read Atlas shrugged by Ayn Rand
