How to Stop Unsolicited Credit Card and Insurance Offers in Your Mail

I was looking at my credit report from Equifax like I do every so often. On my credit report, they had some helpful tips and consumer rights written in the paperwork.

Many of us get those pesky credit card offers & Insurance offers in the mail constantly.. all unsolicited by you.

You can limit or stop these “Unsolicited/Prescreened” offers of credit and insurance by calling:

1-888-5-OPTOUT  OR 1-888-567-8688

This should cut down on your junk mail… Take care!

I would also obtain a copy of all 3 of your credit reports (Experian, Equifax and Transunion) You get 1 copy free every 12 months. You can simply dispute any negative item on your reports by writing a very short dispute letter (These can be Googled)

The credit reporting agencies MUST investigate. If the company reporting the negative item does not respond within 30 days of the POST MARK DATE YOU sent the letter to the credit reporting agency.. it must be removed from your report.

Do not dispute any item online.. Send each agency a letter with a copy of your report from the credit agency CERTIFIED MAIL & SIGNATURE RECEIPT!!!! They rarely are able to get this done in 30 days..

If for some reason they do contest your letter.. just simply keep doing it until they miss the 30 day window.

Hope this helps!
